Hey, I'm Sophie
Project manager. Parent. An expat calling Paris, France home.
A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Relocating to France wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
Moving to France wasn’t in our long-term roadmap. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more expansive.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But slowly, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and started building something that felt stable.
There was culture shock, unpredictability, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We uncovered spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began constructing something that felt secure.
Why I Built Ridge Silver Fable
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in France.
This site aims to fill that gap by offering practical advice grounded in real life in France.
What This Site Covers (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site IS NOT:
- A guide resource from a tourism authority
- A platform for paid reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in France goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will continue recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophie
